1. thanks for the clarification on the 47 starts vs players. we should have read your comments more carefully, although we fully agree with all of your points but one. hard hitting joe moore practices will not be feasible because of the injury factor until notre dame has depth of talent at every position when the no 1 recruiting class in the nation for 2008 arrives this summer, especially with te joe fauria having grown into a very fast and very talented 6'8" ot and more high quality 2008 commits still to come.
2. your analysis really does sock it to the doom and gloomers and the nd coach and player bashers.
3. charlie and his staff have brought in 2 top 10 classes in 2006 and 2007, and he and corwin have lined up the no 1 recruiting class for 2008 with a lot of help from the never say die play of this 2007 team. we do not intend to miss one minute of their remaining games, the paper record be damned.
we rank this 2007 notre dame no 1 in terms of courage, hard work, loyalty, and true grit, the paper record be damned.
4. has any coaching staff in the history of college football with a very ugly 1-7 start every been able to bring in a no 1 recruiting class with integrity and without compromising the very high academic standards that notre dame has?
obviously, the 2008 recruits see what we see and not what the doom and gloomers and the nd coach and player bashers see for the immediate future, not 5 to 10 years down the road and they see notre dame with talent and eepth of talent at every position able to contend for national championships every year with integrity and with high academic standards.
5. we have not found any evidence of any recruiting efforts and success coming anywhere close.
6. combined with the on the field success of the notre dame teams in 2005 and 2006 with major talent at some positions but not all and vitually no depth of talent at any position, the recruiting efforts of charlie and corwin and their staffs are simply amazing.
7. after all, when charlie arrived at notre dame, the notre dame recruiting network was virtually dead. high scholl football coaches all over the us who had not seen anyone from notre dame in decades have had many visits from charlie, corwin and their staffs and they are already hot on the trail of the best and brightest for 2009 and 2010.
have a nice day,
bob gilleran
